
BlueScope congratulates the winners of the 2025 COLORBOND® Award for Steel Architecture, announced as part of this year’s state chapter Architecture Awards presented by the Australian Institute of Architects.
Steel at the Heart of Award-Winning Architecture
Proudly supported by BlueScope, the award celebrates architectural excellence and innovation in the use of steel. From finely crafted residences and educational facilities to civic spaces, visitor centres and public transport infrastructure, this year’s winning projects reflect the versatility, strength, and creative potential of steel in contemporary Australian architecture.
2025 State Chapter Winners:
- New South Wales: Eco-House Leura, Marra + Yeh Architects
- Northern Territory: Charles Darwin University DANALA Education and Community Precinct, MODE
- Queensland: St Aidan’s Anglican Girls School Sports Performance Centre, Blight Rayner Architecture
- Victoria: Casuarina Pavilion, Greenaway Architects (GA)
- South Australia: Flinders Chase Visitors Centre, Troppo Architects
- Australian Capital Territory: Ochre House, MYMYMY Architecture
- Western Australia: METRONET Morley-Ellenbrook Line Project, Woods Bagot with TRCB, TCL and UDLA
The award continues to highlight the many ways steel can contribute to impactful, enduring design. “These winning projects demonstrate how steel can deliver refined detailing, bold architectural gestures, and lasting durability across a wide range of building types,” said Michelle Gissel, Marketing Manager – Commercial, Civil & Industrial at BlueScope. “Each project reflects a confident and creative approach to materiality, and we’re proud to support an award that celebrates this level of design excellence and innovation.”
