Brisbane Open House Returns in 2026

ABC Brisbane

BlueScope is once again supporting Brisbane Open House (BOH) in 2026 as a program partner, as part of the COLORBOND® steel 60th anniversary celebrations.

The 2026 Brisbane Open House program is now live, with the city set to be unlocked over the weekend of Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 July. This year’s program is one of the most ambitious to date, featuring 93 buildings and spaces opening their doors across Greater Brisbane. The program also includes a curated mix of events, tours and talks across the weekend, with some experiences requiring advance booking.

Brisbane Open House is a flagship cultural event that invites the public to discover the stories, spaces, and structures that shape the city. Each year, tens of thousands of visitors take the opportunity to access some of Brisbane’s most iconic and innovative buildings, gaining behind-the-scenes insights into architecture, engineering, urban design, and the city’s built heritage.

Now firmly established in the city’s cultural calendar, BOH opens doors to a diverse collection of landmark civic buildings, contemporary residential projects and lesser-known architectural spaces. The program offers a rare opportunity for architects, design professionals, students and the broader public to experience Brisbane’s built environment from a new perspective.

BlueScope’s support of Brisbane Open House reflects a long-standing commitment to architecture and the role of the design community in shaping our cities and sense of place. For 60 years, COLORBOND® steel has helped Australians bring their ideas to life, from homes that reflect their surroundings to buildings and public spaces designed to endure Australia’s unique climate.

The 2026 program was officially launched at the Glasshouse Theatre, a striking project by Blight Rayner Architecture. The building features a beautiful, light-filled space where the interior truly lives up to the facade, brought to life through a thoughtful mix of materials and colour. BlueScope contributed to the structural steel elements of this inspiring building, which demonstrates a strong integration of structure, form and architectural expression.

Attendees at the launch event also received commemorative COLORBOND® steel cookies in their goodie bags, a fun nod to the 60th anniversary celebrations.

Brisbane Open House Photography Competition

BlueScope and COLORBOND® steel are once again supporting the Brisbane Open House Photography Competition.

The competition invites visitors to capture the creativity, character and architectural diversity of Brisbane's built environment during Brisbane Open House weekend and associated events. Entries can be submitted across five categories:

  • Viewing Roofing – Capture inspiring rooftops viewed from above or below, whether through aerial perspectives, unique angles or intricate roof detailing.
  • People – Explore the relationship between people and place through architecture in use, movement or appreciation
  • Building – Exterior – Celebrate architectural form through facades, shape and scale.
  • Building – Interior – Focus on light, materials, spatial design and atmosphere.
  • Building – Detail – Highlight craftsmanship, ornamentation or clever architectural elements.

Entries open at 9am on Saturday 18 July, and close at 5pm on Friday 24 July, with winners to be announced by the end of August 2026.

We encourage visitors to explore the 2026 BOH program, plan their itinerary, secure bookings where required, and take part in the photography competition for a chance to share their perspective on Brisbane’s built environment.
